Painting en plein-air (on location) both around the Puget Sound and while exploring the wider world, I strive to capture the essence of a living landscape. There is an element of magic in nature, breathing through the movement of air, patterns across water, changing light, shifting colors and the sounds of flora and fauna. My paintings are a personal interpretation of that spiritual experience, where heightened colors and editing choices reflect my emotional experience of a place. I love to find the patterns and details that draw me deeper into a scene and spend time highlighting those to bring viewers into the moment I've put on canvas or paper.
