I paint black ink on paper, called sumi. Originating from China centuries ago. Then adopted by the Japanese. Showing the spirit on the subject is what the artist paints with their brush. When I work, it's fascinating to watch my ink flow on the paper. I may work fast or slow - balancing serendipity with my brush skills. Remembering, it is about the life force of my subject and not the details. My challenge. There are no "do-overs" or corrections. Sometimes getting it right is "just" letting go.
